When on a spur of the moment trip to Lakewood, I was hungry and decided I was craving something Israeli. I quickly googled where to get a schawarma, and I found Eat A Pita. I got it with some falafel in the lafa, and it tasted as good as you get in Israel. The staff was tremendous, and the prices were fair. Next time in Lakewood, I'm going back!

From one of the number one spots in Lakewood!!!!!!! Amazing food. The shawarma is very good the lamb shawarma is even better. My favorite food I get there always is the crunchy chicken fingers and poppers. Thursday night they have Cholent that's very good and kishka deli roll.

Everything we had was delicious. Shawarma in a pita included Israeli Salad inside the pita and lots of delicious tahina. I opted for no hummus. You can choose among many different dressings, pickles and so on. I'm ready to go back after Pesach!

If you like MEAT, this is your place. You can smell it as soon as you walk in and then behind the counter you can see the huge vertical spits with lamb, beef, chicken, etc., roasting away! I've gotten food to go a few times here. It's located right next to my favorite coffee shop so it's convenient if you get hungry while doing work next door or if you are looking for authentic Israeli cuisine. I'm not an expert on Israeli food by any means, but the meats here are fresh, juicy, and loaded with taste. I recently got a beef kabob platter to go and it was excellent. Any dish you order comes with a pita, laffa, baguette, wrap, or platter form. Then you get to pick your vegetable sides, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc. They also have a ton of toppings you can pick from their salad bar and have a refrigerator full of home made sauces to go with your dish. I wasn't sure what to pick, but the staff suggested I try the tehini sauce, which was excellent. Fries and a pita came with my platter. I'm trying to stay away from bread for health reasons, so I brought it home to my dad and he gobbled it up! I should add, besides the beef kabobs, I have also had the lamb and it was equally delicious. This place is known for their schwarma, which I have yet to try. To be honest I had no idea what it was but now I want to try it! I recently discovered schwarma is the meats that are grilled on that big spit behind the counter ALL DAY LONG! Talk about TASTY!!! The staff in the coffee shop next door rave about the schwarma so I'll be back to try :) They had me at their kabobs, so I'm already hooked! The staff here is very friendly. If you are not Jewish, do not feel as though you are not welcome. I'm the queen of questions when it comes to new food and the gentlemen behind the counter were more than helpful. On that note, I feel as though perhaps a sign outside that says "no outside beverages" would be beneficial to non-Jewish customers? I brought in a cup of coffee and was told I couldn't put it down. The staff was very polite about the matter, and informed me that anything with dairy is not kosher,. My coffee happened to be black, but I am sure there was more too it. That said, I think it would be safe to not bring any outside food/drink into Eat at Pita unless you are familiar with the culture. When I sit back and reflect, I probably should have known better myself then to bring in an outside beverage in the first place. Regardless of the "coffee affair,";) Eat at Pita is a very pleasurable dining in or out experience. The staff is professional and the atmosphere is relaxing. They have plenty of tables and chairs. Very clean. The pictures on the walls add a nice touch to the place. The service is also quite quick for such fresh food! I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars only because I've never had any other Israeli cuisine to compare it too. That said, Dine in or To Go, I definitely recommend Eat at Pita.

I grew up in a large Jewish community, and having spent a bunch of years in KC where something as simple as a real bagel is a novel concept, I was excited to get some good food while visiting Lakewood on business, a town that is quite famous for its very visible Orthodox community. We finished work very late at night and I was a bit worried that we'd be stuck having to grab something... shall we say, less kosher on the way home, but we lucked out and found this gem to be open late! Now, let me just go ahead and preface my review by saying that the only real down side - and why this was a 4 and not 5 star experience - is that they were out of a lot of menu items or critical components of menu items. This is forgiveable, given how late it was, and I'd like to come back again during the day so they can earn five some time! My non-Jewish friend who had never had matzoh ball soup before was unable to do so this time around because they were out, so that's still a project that I'm working on though. The food we did get though was excellent. I had a pita with chicken, a pita with falafel, some falafel balls with hummus, and a potato knish. The falafel was on point, as was the knish. I've had a lot of falafels that were either over or under cooked. It seems to be tough to get them right, but this place did, 100%. The exterior of the knish was perfectly done as well. The chicken was extremely tasty also, and the pitas come with a choice of toppings, which between them being out of several, being a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number available, it being late/after a long day's work, and all of them sounding really good, I let the gentleman who took our order pick for me. He did a great job, and everything tasted excellent. It was a lot of food indeed, but we tend to do that when we're trying new places, just order a few of everything and see what's good. You definitely won't go hungry here. If you want some legit Israeli food in the US, I don't think there's a better spot than this one.
